The Project Creator is the entity that first creates the project on Spacehive. The Project Owner (formerly known as Project Delivery Manager) is the entity responsible for ensuring the project happens. They can be different people or the same person.
The person/organisation that creates a Spacehive page for their idea is known as the Project Creator. This person controls the login for the Spacehive page and will likely be the face of the project.
Separate to this is ensuring that the project happens, should the crowdfunding campaign be successful. In many cases the Project Creator has the skills, time and track record to do this, and therefore they double up to become the nominated Project Owner. The Project Owner will own the bank account into which funds are placed following a successful campaign.
The [external] Project Owner
In some cases however the Project Creator may decide that another person or organisation is better placed to carry out the delivery of the project.
This may be because the Project Creator is an individual or part of a group that is not constituted. This can be a block on the project's ability to attract large pledges from funders, as many will only pledge funds to constituted groups.
As a way of enabling the Project Creator to take the project forward, Spacehive enables a link to be made with an external Project Owner, who must sign an agreement prior to beginning crowdfunding that confirms their legal responsibility for delivering the project.
How to nominate an external Project Owner
When creating your project, in your dashboard under 'Your Project' there is a 'Delivery' tab. Click on this tab and you will see a subtitle 'Project Owner'.
The nominated person will then receive an email from Spacehive where they will be guided to join your project as the Project Owner. They will then be able to login to your project and make changes to the page, the same as the Project Creator.
When joining Spacehive, the Project Owner should make sure that they choose to create their account as an 'organisation' rather than 'individual'. Also take note that we cannot have multiple accounts with the same organisation name, so you may need to slightly alter the name you choose.
