This is an online crowdfunding campaign and it works best if everyone makes their pledge online via the crowdfunding page. However, despite your best efforts you may still receive cash, cheques and direct payments. To add these to your campaign, use the Guest Checkout feature.
Even if you receive the cash, cheques or bank transfers directly from your backer, it'll still need to be added online to contribute to your crowdfunding target. To do this, you'll need to make the pledge yourself following these steps:
- Make sure you have the money in your bank
The first step is to deposit the funds into your bank account. You can then pledge to your campaign like other backers do, using either a debit card, a one-off Direct Debit, or bank transfer. - Log out to use the 'Guest Checkout' feature in the name of the backer
Log out of your Spacehive account, navigate back to your campaign page and click the 'Back this project!' button. You can now go through the Guest Checkout process, using the name of the backer exactly as they wish to appear.
You'll need to use an email address which is not attached to an existing Spacehive account already.
If you pledge while logged into your own Spacehive account, then you won't have an option to add a different name and your name will appear as the backer, regardless of the payment details used. - Alternatively, you can upload your funds in bulk
To save time, you can also make combined pledges in the same way, using a backer name such as "Offline donations to [Project name]" or "Funds raised at the cake sale". - Be transparent & post an update
If you have raised funds offline, then we recommend posting an update that provides more background. Particularly if it's come via some form of fundraising e.g. a raffle, you can share this as a good news story and boast about how many people took part etc.
Please note that you are responsible for funds that you receive outside of Spacehive. If your campaign is not successful, all pledges made online are refunded. You may therefore need to keep a record of offline donations so that you can return the cash/cheques yourself.
