It's easier and more secure for everyone if backers pledge to your campaign via the crowdfunding page. However if you receive cash/cheques and would like them added to your campaign, then you will need to pledge them yourself.
If you receive cash, cheques or bank transfers from funders during your crowdfunding campaign and want to have this loaded into your fundraising total, you will need to pledge this using the Spacehive platform.
Make sure you have the money in your bank
The first step is to deposit these funds in your bank. You can then pledge to your campaign like other backers do, using either a debit card, a one-off Direct Debit, or bank transfer.
How do you want the backer to appear?
If you are happy for the backer to appear as yourself/your organisation, you can pledge while logged into your project Spacehive account.
If you want the backer to appear differently, you will need to create a new Spacehive account under this name and pledge to your campaign from this account. You could for example call the account 'donations from the fundraising event at the King's Arms pub'.
Be transparent
If you have raised funds offline, then we recommend posting an update that provides more background. Particularly if it's come via some form of fundraising e.g. a raffle, you can share this as a good news story and boast about how many people took part etc.
Logged into the right account, you can then go ahead and pledge the funds to your campaign.
Please note that you are responsible for funds that you receive outside of Spacehive. If your campaign is not successful, then we refund all the pledges you have received, however you may then need to return cash/cheques yourself.
