It's easier and more secure for everyone if backers pledge to your campaign via the crowdfunding page. However if you receive cash/cheques and would like them added to your campaign, then you will need to pledge them yourself.
If you receive cash, cheques or bank transfers from funders during your crowdfunding campaign and want to have this loaded into your fundraising total, you will need to pledge this using the Spacehive platform.
You will need to pledge from a bank account or PayPal account that is different to the one that you have linked to your project, in order to comply with anti-money laundering regulations. If you don’t have access to a second bank account, we recommend that you create a dedicated bank account into which you can deposit cash and funding you receive outside of Spacehive (MoneySuperMarket has advice on the best current providers).
If you are happy for the backer to appear as yourself/your organisation, you can pledge while logged into your project Spacehive account.
If you want the backer to appear differently, you will need to create a new Spacehive account under this name and pledge to your campaign from this account. You could for example call the account 'donations from the fundraising event at the King's Arms pub'.
Logged into the right account, you can then go ahead and pledge the funds to your campaign, making sure to use a different payment account to those you have linked to your project.
Please note that funds you are responsible for funds that you receive outside of Spacehive. If your campaign is not successful, then we cancel all the pledges you have received, however you may need to return cash/cheques yourself.
