Why is my pledge appearing as a Direct Debit?

Pledging through GoCardless will set up a one-off Direct Debit - not to be confused with an ongoing one that you may be used to! If the campaign is successful and the pledge is fulfilled, then the Direct Debit is automatically cancelled.

When pledging through GoCardless the pre-authorisation is set up via Direct Debit, so although it is only a one-off, it will appear to be the same as any other Direct Debits on your account and statement. Don’t be alarmed! You will only ever be charged once for your pledge, and only if the project succeeds in hitting its target. After that collection the Direct Debit will expire.
