Showing money or items already received before crowdfunding
Updated over a week ago

If you've already secured some funding or received items for your project, you can show these on your Spacehive page before you start crowdfunding. This helps demonstrate existing support and can encourage others to back you.

Adding funds you've already raised

You can show any money you've already received for your project, such as:

  • Grants

  • Donations

  • Funds from events

  • Business sponsorship

To add these:

  1. Go to the costs section of your project page and navigate to 'Pre-campaign fundraising'

  2. Add the name of the backer, and the amount they have donated

  3. Upload evidence to show that these funds are secured (like a grant agreement or bank statement)

Adding in-kind contributions

In-kind contributions are things of value you've been offered instead of cash, such as:

  • Free venue hire

  • Professional services

  • Equipment or materials

  • Volunteer time

  • Free advertising space

To add these:

  1. List them as cost items in your budget

  2. Under 'in-kind contributions' add the name of the contributor and the value of the contribution, ensuring that it matches the amount in (1)

  3. Upload evidence of the offer (like an email or letter)

Important things to know

  • You must add any funds or in-kind contributions before starting your crowdfunding campaign

  • All contributions need to be verified by our team before you can start fundraising

  • Once your campaign begins, all new donations must come through Spacehive

  • The money or items must be specifically for this project

  • You'll need to provide evidence that you have secured these contributions

Being transparent about what you've already received helps build trust with potential backers and shows that others believe in your project.
