Adding funds raised offline to your campaign

Even though this is an online crowdfunding campaign, you might receive cash, cheques or direct payments offline. You can add these to your campaign using Guest Checkout - just make sure you have the money in your bank account first.

Step-by-step process

  1. Deposit the funds:

    • Put the money in your bank account

    • Get ready to donate it via the platform

  2. Use Guest Checkout:

    • Log out of your Spacehive account

    • Go to your project page

    • Click 'Back this project!'

    • Use the backer's preferred display name

    • Use an email not linked to any Spacehive account

Arranging larger offline funds to be moved into your campaign

  • We allow the option to include up to three substantial offline donations for your project. These are typically used for larger external grants you might have received.

  • Email [email protected] with evidence that you either have the funds or that you have been awarded them. Evidence can be a bank

statement, a scan of a cheque, or an official grant letter (with letterhead).

  • Confirm the donor name as you want it to appear on your page, as well as the amount.

  • Spacehive will review the evidence shared. If the evidence fits our criteria and we are confident that the funds exist, we will add the donation in the name of the backer from our end.

Important things to know

  • Don't donate while logged into your account - your name will show as the backer

  • You can combine multiple offline donations into one donation using names like "Offline donations to [Project name]" or "Funds raised at the cake sale"

  • Post an update explaining where offline funds came from

  • Keep records of offline donations in case you need to return them. Spacehive cannot do this for you.

Being transparent

When you receive offline funds:

  • Post an update explaining where they came from

  • Share the story behind fundraising events

  • Tell backers how many people contributed

  • Keep your crowd updated on progress

Remember: You're responsible for any funds received outside Spacehive. If your campaign is unsuccessful, you'll need to handle returning these donations yourself.
