How Spacehive Funds work

Updated over a month ago

Through Spacehive's partner network, you can access extra funding from councils, companies and foundations to help your project succeed. Here's how it works:

What are Funds?

Funds are pots of money set up by our partners to support community projects. They can donate significant amounts to campaigns alongside other backers. Our funding partners include:

  • Local councils

  • Companies

  • Foundations

  • Grant-making organisations

How you get matched to Funds

Once you've entered your basic project information, we match you to relevant Funds based on:

  • Your location

  • Type of project

  • Project impact areas

  • Type of organisation

Making your pitch

You'll find your matched Funds in the 'Funds' tab of your Project Dashboard. For each Fund:

  1. Read their criteria and maximum award amount

  2. Click to start your pitch

  3. Answer their questions about your project

  4. Upload any required documents

  5. Submit your completed pitch

The pitch helps Funds understand your project and decide whether to support you. Common requirements include:

  • Your organisation's constitution

  • Recent accounts

  • Project plans

  • Evidence of community support

Getting a Partner award

Once your crowdfunding campaign is live:

  • Funds monitor your progress for about 4 weeks

  • They look for evidence of community backing

  • If successful, they'll donate to your campaign

  • Some awards may come with terms and conditions

  • You can choose whether to accept their award

Tips for success

  • Complete your pitches before launching your campaign

  • Take time to answer questions thoroughly

  • Provide all requested documentation

  • Show how your project aligns with their goals

  • Demonstrate community support through early donations

  • Keep your campaign active and engaging

Remember: most Funds won't donate your full target amount. You'll still need to crowdfund from your community, but their award can help attract other backers.
