Choosing the campaign length

Updated over a month ago

Choose a duration that gives you enough time to reach your target while maintaining momentum. While you can run a campaign for up to 365 days, shorter campaigns often perform better.

Recommended timelines

Based on your fundraising target:

  • Up to £5,000 = 6 weeks

  • Up to £15,000 = 10 weeks

  • Up to £50,000 = 15 weeks

  • Up to £500,000 = 6 months

Why shorter is often better

Short campaigns:

  • Create a sense of urgency

  • Keep supporters excited

  • Make it easier to maintain momentum

  • Force you to be more focused

  • Help you plan activities better

Important timing considerations

When setting your dates, remember:

  • Some funding partners have specific deadlines

  • Funding partners may also indicate a window within which they'll consider pledging

  • Bank holidays and local events might affect timing

  • School terms might impact community engagement

  • Funds take about three weeks to transfer after success

Getting ready for launch

Before setting your dates:

  • Map out your potential backers

  • Line up your first backers

  • Plan your key campaign activities

  • Prepare your communications

Remember: A well-planned shorter campaign is usually more effective than a longer one without clear activities.
