Projects for Nature connects three groups: nature recovery projects seeking funding, businesses wanting to invest in nature, and public supporters who want to contribute.
How projects are selected
Projects must meet defined eligibility criteria, including being based in England and having received current or previous government funding. Projects must meet one or more of these core themes:
Nature conservation and restoration (habitats and ecosystem restoration, species recovery)
Nature-based solutions for climate change (mitigation or adaptation/resilience)
Connecting people with nature (access, engagement, skills, employment)
Projects may also demonstrate innovation through new approaches or technology for delivering nature recovery.
Projects are screened and selected by experts from Defra, Environment Agency, and Natural England. The portfolio includes diverse projects with different scales, geographies, and desired outcomes.
An expression of interest form is available here.
How businesses participate
Businesses are screened to ensure their investment in Projects for Nature is additional to actions they're already taking to address their climate and nature impact. Using business eligibility criteria, the P4N partners screen for businesses that have shown leadership in understanding and addressing their impacts on nature.

How the public can support
Members of the public can donate directly to any live project through the platform. Public donations help demonstrate community support for projects, which can encourage further business investment.
How funds are managed
All payments are processed securely through Stripe. Funds are transferred to project owners once their campaign has closed and reached its target (or at the end of the funding period, depending on the funding model selected).
