How to check if your project is eligible for Projects for Nature

Before applying to Projects for Nature, check that your project meets the eligibility criteria.

Core eligibility requirements

Your project must:

  • Be based in England

  • Have received or be in receipt of current government funding

  • Meet one or more of the core themes below

Core themes

Projects must address at least one of:

  • Nature conservation and restoration – habitats and ecosystem restoration and/or species recovery

  • Nature-based solutions for climate change – mitigation or adaptation/resilience

  • Connecting people with nature – including access, engagement, skills, or employment

Projects that combine one of the above with innovation (new approaches or technology to delivering nature recovery) are also considered.

What Projects for Nature looks for

The platform particularly supports projects covering outcomes not addressed through private finance mechanisms such as carbon markets or Biodiversity Net Gain. This includes ecosystem services where a market doesn't yet exist, as well as critical outcomes such as species recovery, restoration of rare habitats, and improving access to nature.

Register your interest

If your project aligns with these criteria, you can register your interest through the Projects for Nature platform. The team will review expressions of interest and be in touch about next steps.
